Unexpectedly, Amy Dowden featured on the latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing which aired on the 7th of October, despite her ongoing treatment for breast cancer.

The expert performer, aged 33, became part of the Strictly team in 2017. Unfortunately, she was compelled to withdraw from the competition not long ago as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in its third stage. Presently, she is receiving chemotherapy treatment.

The experienced dancer had previously informed her supporters that she would not participate in the latest show. However, she stunned the audience of Strictly by wearing a glamorous dress and reading aloud the regulations for the public vote during the opening of the Saturday episode.

Introducing Dowden on camera, Claudia Winkleman happily exclaimed: "We're thrilled that she's in good health and able to join us!" Soon after, Dowden made her appearance from behind a nearby curtain.

While Dowden recited the rules and regulations, the passionate group of actors and actresses for Strictly 2023 expressed their approval through clapping and cheering.

Winkleman mentioned that the team was feeling the absence of their fellow Strictly member and inquired about Dowden's treatment progress.

"I'm already past the midway point of my treatment and chemotherapy," exclaimed Dowden enthusiastically. "I am eagerly anticipating my return to be with all of you."

Dowden recently revealed the most challenging part of her fight with cancer to her followers by shaving her head.

On September 21, Dowden informed her followers that she had resolved to "take charge" and shave off all her hair.

Dowden's close ones snipped off portions of her hair to give her a chic cropped look, which made her emotional as she wiped away tears in a video montage uploaded on Instagram.

Afterwards, the Strictly celebrity had her remaining locks shaved off. She became quite sentimental during this process and even had to stop to cover her face with her hands. Nevertheless, she eventually regained her composure and was pleased with the final outcome when she saw herself in the mirror.

Dowden wrote that the haircut was the most difficult step yet and added the phrase "This too shall pass."

I did everything I could to rescue my hair. Although it may seem like a trivial thing, I have experienced a lot of loss lately which has caused me to feel like I'm not my usual self. I miss dancing in every way possible and I wanted to hold onto my hair as a symbol of my identity. Unfortunately, I couldn't ignore the fact that it was shedding and the thought of dealing with that pain every day was unbearable.
