Amanda Serrano has claimed that Ireland’s Katie Taylor deliberately headbutted her during their intense rematch in Texas.

On Friday, Taylor successfully upheld her title as the undisputed world light-welterweight champion, winning by unanimous decision against Serrano at AT&T Stadium. The judges scored the match 95-94 in her favor.

Nevertheless, a dispute arose following the ruling when the Puerto Rican fighter claimed during her post-match interview on Netflix that Taylor had deliberately headbutted her.

In the fourth round, Serrano suffered a severe gash above her eye, which was caused by an unintentional head collision.

In the eighth round, Taylor lost a point after receiving multiple warnings for using his head to lead in his movements.

After the match, Serrano remarked, “I had a feeling that if it went to the judges, there might be some questionable decisions.”

"I decided to strive for greatness. I advanced by three weight classes. That's just how it is. I'm a featherweight, you know?"

“She kept butting her head against me. That’s just her way of doing things. This isn't just my struggle; it's part of all her battles. That's just how she operates.”

Taylor explained her behavior, stating, "I definitely wasn’t playing unfairly."

"It can get intense in that ring. It was a real battle, a fierce showdown. This is a remarkable time for women's boxing."

"Thank goodness for yet another incredible match."

The fight was a fierce battle that exchanged blows for 10 rounds, resembling their earlier legendary match at Madison Square Garden in 2022 in many aspects.

After the final round, Taylor and Serrano shared a warm hug, but the audience, which predominantly supported Serrano, expressed their dissatisfaction when the outcome was revealed.
