An actor from the Netflix series Sex Education, described as a "manipulative and predatory" individual, has been convicted of over twenty sexual crimes, including offenses involving minors.
Alexander Westwood, a 24-year-old from Albrighton, Shropshire, was convicted at Wolverhampton Crown Court for 26 sexual crimes involving women and children. He is set to receive his sentence in February of next year.
In the course of the trial, Westwood was characterized as a “bad influence” and a “master of manipulation,” exploiting his role as an acting instructor to take advantage of his young students.
Jurors were informed that sexual abuse was a component of Westwood's way of life.
His most recent crime goes back to when Westwood was only 10 years old, and the prosecution argued that he had displayed an early "interest" in pornography.
Prosecutor Andrew Wallace described two teenage girls who sought assistance in acting at Westwood, but instead found themselves compelled to perform extremely inappropriate scenes and endured years of systematic abuse.
"As he gained fame, he came across two young 16-year-olds and took advantage of his respected status to exploit them," he stated.
From November 2020 to September 2021, the accused repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted a student who was attending a drama school in Birmingham.
Mr. Wallace stated that Westwood would physically assault her, engage in inappropriate acts with himself, and sexually violate her.
He discussed with her a sexual scene from the 1991 movie Frankie and Johnny, as well as a masturbation scene from Bridgerton, Mr. Wallace mentioned. Additionally, he filmed her nude using his iPad.
Whenever she questioned or pushed back against him, he would respond with, "Just follow your teacher's instructions... do you believe in me?" he continued.
After she mentioned that she wouldn't be attending Westwood's sessions anymore, the accused presented a contract. The prosecution characterized it as a manipulative tactic designed to maintain her compliance, stating that she would be financially liable for thousands of pounds if she skipped his lessons.
His mistreatment of the second teenager took place concurrently, happening from May to August 2021.
Other examples of mistreatment involved making a young girl, whom he repeatedly harmed over a span of seven years, consume his urine.
Mr. Wallace stated that the mistreatment of the girl in a home in Walsall, West Midlands involved horrific actions that exceeded the ten specific charges against her.
He mentioned, “If we were to compile every occurrence, there would be hundreds of accusations.”
