After accomplishing his personal goal of winning an Olympic gold medal, Alex Yee is now hoping to do a favor for his fellow British teammate, Sam Dickinson.

Just like the way he behaved at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham two years previous, Dickinson showed true selflessness on the bike by going out of his way to support his close friend in securing a well-deserved gold medal.

After finishing his task, he decided to drop out at the beginning of the race to preserve his energy for the Mixed Team Relay scheduled for Monday.

During most of the race, it seemed unlikely that Yee would be able to achieve another gold like he did in Birmingham. Hayden Wilde was in the lead, widening the gap to 22 seconds at one stage.

However, Yee persisted and impressively found a burst of energy that allowed him to overtake Wilde at the last moment, pushing him into second place once again.

"Through All"

After the event, Yee was eager to give credit to Dickinson and mentioned to Eurosport's Rachel Stringer: "We have been friends since we were young - during college, during parties, we shared a place for a couple of years."

"We put in a lot of effort, day after day. This person has helped motivate me countless times, and I hope I have been able to do the same for them. I am filled with pride for their accomplishments."

New Focus On Relay Race

Looking back at the relay in Paris on Monday, Team GB will try to win again against a tough home team. Yee mentioned, "We'll try our hardest to make this guy's dream a reality. We're giving our all to make it happen."

Dickinson, who earned a gold medal in the relay with Yee in Birmingham, briefly participated in the interview. However, similar to his performance in the race, he played a supporting role flawlessly.

He said: "Alex was the winner, I did not win. It was really tough for me to walk away from the race."

"But, you see, today is not about me. It means a lot to me to assist a friend in achieving their dream as well."
