Alex Yee wins gold in men's triathlon with stunning late victory
Alex Yee from Britain achieved a remarkable comeback to win the gold medal in the men's triathlon event.
The 26-year-old athlete was considered one of the top contenders for his event at the Olympics this summer, alongside Hayden Wilde from New Zealand.
He was more than 10 seconds behind Wilde when there were about 200 meters left, but he made an amazing comeback to win the gold medal - making it Team GB's fifth gold medal of the games up to that point.
During the previous Olympics in Tokyo, which took place three years ago, Yee impressed by winning two medals in his debut games. He has now emerged as one of the rising stars in the world of triathlon, following in the footsteps of the renowned Brownlee brothers, as he arrives in Paris for the latest competition.

However, leading up to the event, concerns about the water cleanliness in the River Seine cast a shadow over the preparations.
Two practice swims had to be called off because the water quality was not up to par, even though Paris had invested €1.4 billion to prepare the river for the competition.

The event had to be rescheduled for Wednesday because tests done early Tuesday showed that the water quality was not good enough for the race to happen.
