Alex Yee and Bryony Page have been chosen to carry the flag for Team GB at the final event of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In both Tokyo and Paris, Yee has achieved great success by winning two gold medals, a silver medal, and a bronze medal. They have also been chosen to carry the flag inside the Stade de France, which is a huge honor.
Page will accompany Yee in holding the flag during the Sunday evening parade in Paris.
Page, who is 33 years old, is in the latter part of her career and achieved the full set of medals by winning the gold in trampoline this summer.
The Bercy Arena won gold, just like it did in Rio in 2016 and secured a silver in Tokyo three years ago.
"When I received the call informing me, I was in disbelief - it's really such a privilege," Page stated. "Being selected to represent trampolining, a sport that is relatively niche, is truly remarkable. And carrying the flag for all the Team GB Olympians is an incredible honor."
I am feeling so much emotion and pride right now. I am eagerly looking forward to representing all the athletes who have competed. I want to congratulate each and every one of them for their outstanding performances and the way they have shown support for their teammates. Being part of this team is truly unique and special.
Yee experienced her first Olympics in Tokyo, however, due to Covid restrictions, there were no spectators at a smaller closing event.
Yee will have the opportunity to experience the real deal with Paris 2024.
Yee said that the closing ceremony of the Olympics is a very important part of the whole experience. Since he didn't have the chance to experience it in Tokyo, he wanted to make sure he attended it in Paris.
It was a truly memorable experience being able to attend the event. And receiving the call this morning to hold the flag for Great Britain was even more special.
There have been many amazing performances from Team GB in the past two weeks. Being chosen as someone who has represented Team GB effectively and made the country proud is a truly special honor.
The closing show for Paris 2024 starts at 8pm British time.
