The film called 'Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In', which came out in 2021, highlights how Sir Alex devoted his professional life to Lady Cathy.

During the interview, he shared his experience of meeting his eventual spouse at their workplace. At that time, he was 22 years old and his friend informed him about a new colleague who seemed pleasant. Unfortunately, he had sustained an injury while playing football and had a plaster on his face. This led to his partner presuming that he was either a gangster or a boxer. Nevertheless, he took her to watch a movie.

In the documentary made by their son Jason, Lady Cathy shared that Sir Alex had brought her to the movie theater for their initial romantic outing.

"He surprised me with a box of liquorice allsorts while we were at the movies. Sadly, he ended up eating all of them. After the movie, he even bought a local newspaper. It may not seem like much, but those little gestures meant the world to me. That was the beginning of our love story. We got married at the Glasgow registry office back in 1966. The next day, we went our separate ways - I went to work, and he headed off to play football."

Jason Ferguson shared in the movie how his mother had been a constant support for his father. He expressed that his father's passion for something was made possible thanks to his mother's compromise. Furthermore, his mother single-handedly raised Jason and his siblings while also allowing his father to pursue his interests. This required sacrifice from her part.
