On Tuesday, it was revealed that United has ended Ferguson's ambassador position, which paid £2.6 million annually, as part of their efforts to reduce expenses.

Eric Cantona, the former United striker and one of Ferguson's greatest acquisitions during his 26 years at Old Trafford, criticized the club's choice as 'disrespectful' and 'completely outrageous.'

According to MailOnline, not only has Ferguson's position been eliminated, but the 82-year-old is also one of the key individuals who have been told to avoid the players' locker room during match days.

The report suggests that Ferguson hasn't been officially prohibited, but there is a shared agreement regarding who is allowed to enter the players' private area.

Key individuals at United have consistently been embraced in the locker room, even after Ferguson stepped down, including both directors and former players.

Former United captain Michael Carrick shared that Sir Bobby Charlton, who passed away last year, often stopped by the players' locker room, and his presence and insights were highly valued.

"He walks into the locker room after every match, and his support never wavers," Carrick stated in 2019.

"Since I joined the club, one thing that really strikes me is the incredible support from true legends and icons. It's not only from this club, but also from the wider football community."

"Sir Bobby has provided immense support, not just for me but for every player. After each game, regardless of the outcome, he makes it a point to come over, shake your hand, and offer words of encouragement. If we had a tough match, he reassures you that things will improve next time. If we did well, he praises the effort and encourages us to keep it up."

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge, Ferguson made several visits to the locker room, one notable occasion being after Manchester United eliminated Paris Saint-Germain from the Champions League at the Parc des Princes in 2019.

“It’s fantastic to have the boss involved,” Solskjaer remarked following his team's victory in the French capital.

It's been reported that Ferguson's response to the termination of his contract with United was positive.

United have also stated that the Scot is still invited to come to games at Old Trafford.

On Tuesday, former United defender Rio Ferdinand shared his thoughts on X: "If Sir Alex can be removed, then NO ONE at Manchester United is secure – anyone could be in danger now. Ineos is signaling a warning to EVERYONE at the club?!?"
