Jake leads the victory charge into FA Cup third round

AFC Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon secured a spot in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup after a dominant win this evening.

The Dons played in front of 6,894 people and many others watching on TV. They beat Ramsgate with a score of 5-0 and could have scored even more. The fact that Ramsgate is four divisions below the Dons was evident.

Jake Reeves started strong for the Dons with an excellent goal in the beginning, resulting in an easy win and an opportunity to take on the talented Ipswich team in the upcoming round.

The Cherry Red Records Stadium has seen a surge of goals lately. Cheltenham and Notts County both suffered defeats with five and four goals scored against them, respectively. This marks a remarkable improvement from the earlier part of the season. Furthermore, the team has won five consecutive home games.

The Dons started the game very quickly and were close to scoring first when Connor Lemonheigh-Evans headed a cross just above the crossbar. Nevertheless, they quickly scored after that and it was an impressive goal. Ali Al-Hamadi intercepted a bad pass and passed it perfectly to Jake Reeves who finished it expertly with a powerful shot into the goal. It was a goal that was worthy of being seen by everyone in the country on TV.

Wimbledon needed the first goal to stop Ramsgate from gaining momentum and winning against all odds. They had more opportunities to increase their lead, such as when Joe Lewis took a shot from a short distance that was blocked by Ramsgate goalie Thomas Hadler.

Encouraged by their 1,400 supporters who had travelled with them, the Ramsgate team tried to score, but they couldn't manage to challenge Alex Bass in the Wimbledon goal. Armani Little made a good attempt, but his shot went wide of the post. However, Wimbledon managed to score their second goal in the 25th minute. Lemonheigh-Evans was too much for the Ramsgate defence to handle, and he passed to Jack Currie, who was free. Our left-back made a deep cross, and Hadler could only parry it into the path of Ali Al-Hamadi, who scored from close range.

Al-Hamadi accomplished his 10th goal of the season, which is an impressive feat considering he didn't begin scoring until September 30th when he brought down Tranmere with a hat-trick. In the first-half, Hadler was occupied with quite a few shots, and he expertly stopped Josh Neufville's attempt by tipping it wide. Unfortunately, Neufville finally succeeded in the 43rd minute when he clinically finished after Hadler deflected Al-Hamadi's shot in his direction.

The final score was 3-0 which was well earned by the home team. However, just before halftime, the visiting team almost scored. Tijan Jadami received a great pass from the left and it looked like he was going to score, but Alex Bass made an amazing close-range save. Unfortunately, Lee Martin missed the rebound by shooting the ball over the crossbar.

The Wimbledon team looked like they were going to have an easy time in the third round as both teams entered the second half. They quickly increased their lead with a great play from Reeves, who found Lemonheigh-Evans to score in the 48th minute. With Al-Hamadi and the rest of the team energized and wanting more goals, Ramsgate couldn't afford to make any mistakes. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened when they tried to play from behind, and Al-Hamadi took advantage of their error to score another impressive goal.

Our player from Iraq tried three times to score a hat-trick, but his attempts were stopped. Then, in the 63rd minute, he left the field to the cheers of the Dons fans. Josh Davison took his place upfront. Lemonheigh-Evans also had a chance to score but Hadler stopped his shot. Wimbledon were dominating the game and it was just a question of how many goals they would score.

Even though substitute Davison had hit a post with an impressive shot, it didn't make a big difference in the game's outcome. Wimbledon had an outstanding performance, and it was a fantastic night of soccer. Let's look forward to the third round!
