Mexican singer and actor, Adan Canto, who gained popularity for playing significant roles in "X-Men: Days of Future Past", "Agent Game", and the television series, "The Cleaning Lady", has passed away at the age of 42.

According to statements made by public relations consultant Jennifer Allen to The Associated Press, Canto passed away due to appendiceal cancer. He had chosen to not reveal his diagnosis to the public.

Allen stated that Adan possessed a profound inner strength that only a select few had the privilege of understanding. Those who were able to witness this were transformed by the experience, and Adan's absence will be deeply felt by a large number of people.

Canto was born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico but grew up in Texas. He started working as a singer-songwriter in Mexico City when he was only 16 years old. After that, he decided to try his luck at acting and got his first TV role on the Mexican series "Estado de Gracia" in 2009. A few years later, he landed a role on Kevin Williamson's "The Following" in 2013, alongside Kevin Bacon, which marked his American debut.

He is well-known for his impressive performances as various characters. He played Vice President-elect Aaron Shore on the popular show "Designated Survivor," and portrayed Colombian politician Rodrigo Lara Bonilla on "Narcos." He also played Sunspot, the mutant, in the movie "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Among his recent works were the movie "Bruised," which was directed by Halle Berry, and "Agent Game."

In 2014, he directed his initial short flick, and recently, he directed his second one. It's a bold western film that features the talented Theo Rossi.

At the moment of his passing, Canto was playing as Armand Morales in the third season of "The Cleaning Lady" on Fox. Although he was unable to continue filming due to his sickness, he remained optimistic about returning later in the season.

Canto had a wide grin and a loud chuckle. His pals remarked that he possessed a compassion and modesty that might appear contrary to the imposing physique and chiseled features of a main character.

Kiefer Sutherland, who acted with Canto on "Designated Survivor," posted a homage on his Instagram account.

Recently, I have had to share too many posts like this, and it saddens me deeply to announce the passing of Adan Canto. He was a remarkable person, and I mourn his loss. Along with his acting skills, Adan had a strong yearning to succeed and become even better, which was truly remarkable. He will be missed by many. My thoughts go out to his wife, Steph, and his two children during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Adan.

Canto's family includes Stephanie Ann Canto, his wife, and two kids named Roman Alder (3 years old) and Eve Josephine (18 months old), who have survived him.
