Palace agree £18m fee for Blackburn's Wharton

Adam Wharton

Adam Wharton managed to score during his potential last match with Blackburn when they went up against Huddersfield on January 20th.

Crystal Palace and Blackburn Rovers have made a deal for midfielder Adam Wharton. The transfer fee starts at £18m.

Wharton emerged from Blackburn's academy and has since played in a grand total of 51 games for the team.

Last week, the Eagles tried to purchase the English Under-20 player for £18.5m. Unfortunately, their offer was declined. However, they have successfully negotiated a deal with the Championship club.

Wharton, whose elder sibling Scott is also a player for Blackburn, has participated in 26 games during this period, managing to find the back of the net twice.

On Monday, Blackburn won over Wrexham in the fourth round of the FA Cup, but the player in question did not play and remained on the bench as a substitute.

In a conversation with BBC Radio Lancashire following the game, the manager of the Rovers team, Jon Dahl Tomasson, stated that there was an offer a few days before that the club declined, which he believed was the correct decision.

Everyone is aware of how amazing Adam is as a player. It's such a pleasure to see him grow and improve every day. We have heard various speculations about his future and it's no surprise as a player with his caliber might get offers to play elsewhere. Given his talent and potential, he might even represent England someday."

Football and life can be unpredictable. Regardless of where Adam plays, we are proud of him and wish him success whether he stays with our club or moves to another.

Everyone has dreams, right? Just like me, Adam loves to play soccer. It's definitely a tough decision when a player is presented with the opportunity to play in the Premier League.
