Wharton's career has taken off rapidly since he departed Blackburn, a Championship club, in January to join Crystal Palace. He has already gained a lot of attention with his performances.

The second midfield spot next to Declan Rice in England's team is still up for grabs, but a player from Arsenal has given a strong indication of whom he would like to team up with. Wharton is the player that has caught his eye, and he has been playing on his team in training. Rice has been impressed with the way they play together, and he has been outstanding since joining Palace. Many players have been impressed with him in training, and he is a composed player on the ball with a beautiful left foot. His passing is also really sharp. Wharton is eager to step up when called upon, and he is ready to play on the big stage.

Distinguishing players who are high-level at the age of 20 from those who are almost there is crucial, and this particular player is indeed a top-level one. He is able to perceive a pass in advance and executes his moves in a simple yet elegant way, providing effective results. I cannot praise him enough for his accomplishments.

The coaches were pleasantly surprised by Wharton's swift adjustment to his role as an England player. The 20-year-old performed exceedingly well during his debut appearance against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and just three days later, he was included in the final squad.

He is going up against other players like Conor Gallagher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Kobbie Mainoo to be selected as a starter alongside Rice for the England team in their first game of the Euros against Serbia, which will be in a week's time.

Wharton could be exactly what England requires. He can make forward passes from a stable position while Rice moves around him for support, thereby controlling the game.

Southgate recently added Wharton to the team and noticed that players like Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon, and Mainoo have improved significantly, which has led to the regeneration of the group beyond what was anticipated a few months ago.

Including him has resulted in Palace having the most players in Southgate's squad.
