Accrington Stanley vs Leeds United

Whites back in Emirates FA Cup action.

Leeds United face Accrington Stanley away from home on Saturday, in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round (12:30).

The Whites travel to the WHAM Stadium to take on Sky Bet League One opposition, aiming to progress into the fifth round of the competition for the first time since the 2015/16 campaign.

We’re aware what it means, the David vs Goliath, it’s an inspiring narrative. I want us to play with intensity and never take anything for granted.” pic.twitter.com/NUuGRitB4S

Getting to this stage has seen both teams have to overcome replays in the previous round, against lower division opponents. Leeds came back to Elland Road to defeat Cardiff 5-2, after a 2-2 draw in South Wales.

Stanley’s draw was away at Boreham Wood, 1-1, which also meant they had to come back and do the business on home turf. A 1-0 win during the week courtesy of a Tommy Leigh extra-time penalty sent them through.

John Coleman’s side have had two previous clashes before their double against Boreham Wood. In the first round proper, way back in November, they comfortably won away at Crawley 4-1, before the second round was a little trickier - an 84th minute winner at home to Barnet.

These two teams haven’t met each other since 2014. That was also a cup clash, but in the League Cup. Leeds ran out 2-1 winners that day thanks to a Souleymane Doukara double! The only other time time this fixture occurred was 2009, another win for the Whites - this one in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
