Eric Morecambe branded "a time-waster" in unearthed school reports.
Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise were some of the most beloved and long-lasting comedy icons in the history of British television.
Recently discovered school reports reveal that comedian Eric Morecambe was described by his teachers as "loud and prone to wasting time."
The evaluations from his previous teachers at Lancaster Road Junior School and Euston Road Senior School in Morecambe pointed out issues with the late performer's attendance and noted that his written assignments were messy and lacking quality.
The documents were found in Morecambe's research conducted at his family's residence in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
They are scheduled to go up for auction in January.
A younger Eric holding a lollipop, which was used as a prop in "Youth Takes A Bow," is also up for auction.
A report from Lancaster Road dating back to 1936 was sent back with a note from Eric's mother, Sadie Bartholomew, written on the reverse side.
It said: "I am really upset with this report and would appreciate it if you could assign him more homework, as I noticed he didn't complete it here, S. Bartholomew."
His high school report from 1940, when Eric was 14 and already performing on stage, noted: "He puts in effort, but his written assignments are quite messy."
"Also tends to procrastinate; could work on being more organized; has been mostly absent this term. Seems to be making an effort to get better."
John Eric Bartholomew adopted the stage name Eric Morecambe.
Other sources indicated that Morecambe, who rose to fame as a prominent comedian alongside his partner Ernie Wise, was known for his "joyful personality" and was very enthusiastic about performing at school events, showcasing his talent in contemporary music and dance.
A teacher from Lancaster Road mentioned that Morecambe was "missing for the majority of his exams."
In 1939, he ranked second in geography, fifth in English, and ninth in math.
The complete belongings of the Morecambe family will be put up for auction by Hansons auction house.
