Storm Nelson

On Holy Thursday, March 28, Storm Nelson caused the unfortunate deaths of two individuals in Asturias. The storm was particularly powerful.

In the past few days, Storm Nelson has been having a severe impact on the Cantabrian shoreline, causing perilous weather situations.

The Emergency Coordination Centre of 122 Asturias was notified on March 28 about an incident at Cudillero port. A woman had fallen into the sea and hit the rocks.

When the rescue team was getting ready to go, they received news that a nearby boat had already rescued the woman. She was taken to the local port, but unfortunately, she was still unconscious and the medical team's effort to save her was in vain as she was pronounced dead.

he bad weather made it difficult for emergency services to rescue a man who had been swept into the sea by the strong wind, according to a witness who reported the incident in Punta de la Barra. Both the Civil Guard helicopter and SEPA were dispatched to try and rescue the man, but they faced further challenges as the weather conditions were not in their favor.

The individual who had suffered, an English visitor, was found in the water and announced as deceased.

Officials are advising individuals to stay away from the seashore and steep cliffs when there are high winds.
