Man Utd teenager Mainoo added to England squad

Kobbie Mainoo was initially selected by Lee Carsley's under-21s team for the very first time to participate in the Euro 2025 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Luxembourg.

Kobbie Mainoo, who plays as a midfielder for Manchester United, has been selected for the England team for the first time. He will participate in friendly matches against Brazil and Belgium in the near future.

Mainoo, a young footballer at the age of 18, was initially selected to play in the under-21s team, but he has been moved up to the senior squad by Gareth Southgate.

On Saturday, England will have matches against Brazil and Belgium. These matches will be played at Wembley and will serve as their last ones prior to Southgate announcing his roster for Euro 2024.

On Tuesday, the remaining members of the team, which consists of 26 players, arrived at St George's Park.

Mainoo, a former student of the youth academy of United, has been selected to represent England in several age groups including under-17s, under-18s, and under-19s.

The adolescent, who was born in Stockport, was given the opportunity to start for Manchester United for the first time in November when they played against Everton. Since then, he has gone on to play an additional 19 games.

At the conclusion of January, he succeeded in scoring his inaugural goal for the team during a fourth-round FA Cup victory against Newport. Not long after, he scored a game-winning goal against Wolves in the Premier League that took place just four days later.

Anthony Gordon, who plays as a forward for Newcastle, and Jarrad Branthwaite, who is a defender for Everton, recently received their first senior call-ups and have now arrived at St George's Park.

The forward player of Brentford called Ivan Toney was in action for the initial time after completing an eight-month penalty for violating the betting regulations of the Football Association (FA) in January.

The three goalkeepers chosen for the team are Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace, Jordan Pickford from Everton, and Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal.
