Although Arsenal and Manchester City have been knocked out in the quarter-finals, there will still be a substantial English presence in this season's Champions League final.

The European club football's main event will take place at Wembley on June 1, where Borussia Dortmund will compete against Real Madrid. Additionally, England players - Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham - are also eager to win on their home turf.

In this article, the PA news organization examines how English football players have performed in foreign countries while leaving their mark on the continent.

This season, Borussia Dortmund has played in 18 games and has scored a total of 3 goals.

Sancho went back to his previous team this season on a loan basis after having a highly publicized disagreement with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. The 24-year-old had a tough time making an impact during his time at Old Trafford after he transferred from Dortmund in 2021. However, Sancho showed promise after returning to Signal Iduna Park. He shone in the first part of the semi-final victory against Paris St Germain, and it is still possible for him to earn a spot in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024, even after his last appearance for his country in October 2021. Sancho's celebrations inside the dressing room after securing a place in the final became a sensation on social media. He led his Dortmund teammates in jubilantly singing Adele's hit "Someone Like You."

This season, Borussia Dortmund has made 31 appearances, with only managing to score two goals.

The player from England's Under-21 team might not be as famous as the others on this list. Just like Sancho, he left Manchester City's academy when he was 16 and joined Dortmund in 2020. This season, he played in six games in the top European competition and even scored a goal against AC Milan in a 3-1 victory at the San Siro during the group stages. Bynoe-Gittens is 19 years old and was not able to play in the semi-finals against Paris St Germain, but he has already played in more than 50 games for his team in Germany.

Real Madrid has played 39 matches during this season and has scored a total of 22 goals.

Bellingham, who is making a name for himself in Spain, will face his former team Dortmund at Wembley. As one of the most highly sought-after players in the world, he was ultimately drawn to LaLiga and opted to join Real Madrid. After securing the league title with his new team, he now has the opportunity to help them win their 15th European Cup and solidify his status as one of the world's best players at just 20 years old. If he achieves victory in the final, it would be a major milestone in his already impressive career trajectory.
