Gogglebox star George Gilbey dies at 40 in workplace accident

According to a spokesperson for the show, George Gilbey from Gogglebox has passed away at the age of 40. He had gained popularity for his appearances on the Channel 4 series, where he starred with his mother Linda McGarry and stepfather Pete McGarry, who also had passed away in 2021 at the age of 71. Additionally, in 2014, he was a contestant on the 14th series of Celebrity Big Brother and managed to reach the finals.

According to reports, Gilbey passed away from a work-related accident on Wednesday. The representative for the television program Channel 4 stated that George was a valued member of the Gogglebox crew for a total of eight series. He appeared with his mother Linda and stepfather Pete as part of the family.

"We would like to express our sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Linda and George during this difficult moment. The family has requested that they would appreciate some privacy at this time."

The police in Essex received a call regarding an occurrence in Shoeburyness, located in Southend-on-Sea on Wednesday, when a man passed away after falling from a considerable height. One of the spokespeople for the police stated that they were informed of the incident that took place at Campfield Road in Shoebury around 10 in the morning on the 27th of March. The man was working at height and sustained an injury from the fall.

The ambulance team and air ambulance were there. It's sad to say that the man passed away at the location. We'll keep working with our partners such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The location is still being secured with a cordon.

Ricci Guarnaccio, who used to be on Geordie Shore and was also on Celebrity Big Brother with Gilbey in 2014, shared a message honoring his friend and past co-star on the show X. He later added that Gilbey had been in a mishap while working.

He expressed his sadness, but acknowledged that his friend will be greatly missed. He noted that his friend had a magnetic personality and always looked out for others. The memories they shared will always be meaningful to him. From their time on CBB to their recent conversation, he will deeply miss his friend.

Gilbey became a part of the renowned Channel 4 show in 2013 for its second cycle. However, due to his participation in Celebrity Big Brother, he and his family were eventually removed in 2014. Nonetheless, Gilbey and his family were able to return to the program afterwards.

The famous person from Essex was on a TV show called Channel 5 reality show with other well-known people like Stephanie Pratt from The Hills and American actor Gary Busey. Gary Busey won the competition.
