There were fifteen contestants who participated in the semi-finals at Malmö Arena in Sweden with the aim of being selected for the big final on Saturday 11th May.

Bambie Thug, a singer originally from Cork but now residing in London, was among the top contenders expected to win. They successfully advanced with their electro-metal tune "Doomsday Blue," alongside Marcus & Martinus, twin vocalists from Norway who represented Sweden and performed the catchy club hit "Unforgettable." Thanks to their prior victory in 2023, Sweden has already qualified for the finals.

Alyona and Heil's stirring tune "Teresa & Maria" are considered to be top-notch competitors. Ukraine had previously emerged victorious in 2022 with the Kalush Orchestra and in 2016 with Jamala.

In other news, the crowd's top pick, Baby Lasagna, is set to showcase his eccentric act "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" at the finale. Additionally, Finnish representative Windows95Man will also take the stage with his performance titled "No Rules!"

British pop singer Olly Alexander took to the stage to perform his song "Dizzy" during the Eurovision competition. However, he was already assured a spot in the final due to the UK's position as one of the "big five" countries. These countries are guaranteed to compete in the final due to their high funding of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the event.

On Thursday, May 9th, the second semi-final will have 16 more countries vying for the win. These countries include Malta, Albania, Greece, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Austria, Denmark, Armenia, Latvia, San Marino, Georgia, Belgium, Estonia, Israel, Norway and the Netherlands.

Nemo from Switzerland is highly anticipated with their operatic hit "The Code", making them a top contender.

People who were expecting bright and happy songs might be shocked to discover that most of the songs at this year's festival will be played in a minor key. The PA news organization has analyzed the contest and discovered that only two out of the thirty-seven competitors have chosen to perform in a major key, which is the smallest amount since the competition was first held back in 1956.

In case Hera Bjork from Iceland and Luna from Poland do not qualify for the grand final, it will become the maiden instance in the Eurovision's past that no tunes will get played in a significant key.

There is anticipation of demonstrations occurring during the second semi-final because Israel is taking part, and there are ongoing military operations happening in Gaza.

The ultimate event of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will happen on May 11th, Saturday. The sequence of the songs will be revealed after the finalized contestants are declared.

Malin Åkerman and Petra Mede will be hosting the event directly from Malmö Arena. Malin Åkerman is a Swedish-American actor while Petra Mede is very experienced in hosting the Eurovision contest.

Furthermore, during the highly anticipated final, supporters will have the opportunity to witness a unique presentation by the current title holder of the Eurovision contest, Loreen.
