Blake Fielder-Civil, who used to be married to Amy Winehouse and is now her ex-husband, recently shared that he found the depiction of himself in the new and controversial film Back to Black to be very healing and comforting.

Jack O’Connell, a well-known actor from popular teen series Skins, as well as Netflix shows Godless and Lady Chatterley's Lover, portrays Fielder-Civil in the movie.

O'Connell acts alongside Marisa Abela, who portrays Winehouse, while Eddie Marsan has been chosen to play the role of the singer's father, Mitch.

Fielder-Civil appeared on Good Morning Britain's episode on Friday, April 12th and shared with the hosts that he found the movie almost like a therapy and felt that certain parts of the movie portrayed him more accurately.

"In other words, it's not about getting away with something or trying to make it seem less severe, as some may have hinted at. It's simply that addiction wasn't the sole factor at play," he stated.

While the attention-grabbing headlines and paparazzi may have focused on it, addiction was just one part of the equation. Ultimately, the relationship began like any other.

Presenter Kate Garraway raised a concern of people portraying him as a typical “Disney prince”. She inquired if he concurred with Taylor-Johnson’s statement that she wanted to showcase how they both fell for each other. Furthermore, she was keen to know what were the reasons that drew Winehouse towards him originally.

The issue lies in the fact that the tale that had been continuously shared, or the storyline, is something that I picked up on rather quickly - that the people involved in creating the film had no intention of revisiting it,” replied Fielder-Civil.

He disclosed that O'Connell approached him prior to producing the movie without requiring any suggestions, as a sign of respect.

Fielder-Civil worked as a production assistant and he first met Winehouse in a pub in 2005. They hit it off and started a romantic relationship shortly after. They tied the knot in 2007, but unfortunately, their love story was tainted by their individual struggles with substance abuse.

Winehouse previously mentioned that she and her partner's entire union was centered on drug use. In 2007, the two officially separated, but maintained an inconsistent relationship. Tragically, in July of 2011, Winehouse passed away from alcohol poisoning at the young age of 27.

In a recent appearance on GMB, Fielder-Civil expressed his understanding of Mitch Winehouse's emotions towards him. He stated that he sincerely hoped Mitch could recognize the love that he had for Amy and that Amy had for him. Fielder-Civil also revealed that he would do anything in his power to bring Amy back if it were possible.

During a previous appearance on the program last year, he revealed that he could not handle the weight of Winehouse's death on his own.

Personally, I've had to let go of the responsibility of carrying that burden alone. For more than a decade, I've carried it by myself," he expressed. "Truth be told, I think I'm the only one in that situation who has taken responsibility and tried to own up to their mistakes."

When he was asked to elaborate on his "mistakes", he responded by saying that he was a drug addict in his twenties and didn't know how to get sober, let alone help someone else who was a critical part of a record label. Additionally, there were people who were invested in Amy continuing to perform, which made things even more complicated.

During a recent interview with The Independent, it was revealed that Taylor-Johnson received permission from the Winehouse family to create Back to Black. However, she made it clear that there were no negotiations or alterations made to her vision for the film.

Initially, I informed producer Alison Owen that I require complete independence and autonomy. I can't tolerate any limitations or restrictions whatsoever. Therefore, any sort of authorization involving family or similar matters will not be suitable for me. It's crucial for me to create the film purely based on my intuition. Nevertheless, there might be certain elements that they may not be content with.
