Jasmin Paris becomes first woman to finish Barkley Marathons - 'The Race That Eats Its Young'
Jasmin Paris achieved a groundbreaking feat in ultrarunning by becoming the initial woman to complete the infamous Barkley Marathons held at Frozen Head State Park in Tennessee.
Up until now, and over a period of more than 30 years, the competition has been a challenging five-loop spanning 100 miles and involves as much steepness as ascending Mount Everest twice. In her first appearance in 2022, she participated in a "Fun Run" and crossed three loops. The following year, she accomplished an impressive feat by becoming the first woman in two decades to complete a fourth loop.

Her third try went quite well. She managed to move faster than before, and finished the loop within 12 hours, which is the designated limit. This also means that she only had a little over 13 hours left to finish the last and fifth loop.
