Ashley Young expressed his discontentment towards Jose Mourinho during his tenure with Manchester United.

The Everton player had experience playing for Manchester United while the Portuguese coach was in charge from 2016 to 2018, before being fired.

Young appeared as a special guest on Monday Night Football, where he talked about his time as a player, particularly his ten-year tenure with the Red Devils.

The individual, aged 38, expressed their dissatisfaction with the way Mourinho managed the team despite feeling enthusiastic when he first took over from Louis van Gaal.

According to him: 'I believe that everybody was incredibly enthusiastic about Jose arriving. As you observe his achievements in the past, you assume that this is a decision that might have been made way earlier.'

Ashley Young expressed his feeling of disappointment towards his former coach Jose Mourinho during his time at Manchester United.

Young maintains that Mourinho instructed the squad to execute a playing technique that was not in accordance with the traditional Manchester United style.

I felt a bit let down by what was about to happen.

You were familiar with Jose when he was with Chelsea before he went to Real Madrid. Now that he has returned, you can observe the type of football that is being played.

In my opinion, the way of playing football used did not match with the Manchester United's approach.

When questioned whether the players back then conversed about the issue, he answered, 'Certainly, it's typical for players to discuss matters. Moreover, we, as players, could have handled it more effectively at that time.'

Young explained that it would have been difficult for any managers succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson after his departure in 2013.

During a recent presentation, Dave Jones mentioned that it had been five years since the renowned coach left the team. This was around the same time that Mourinho came on board at Old Trafford. Young responded by saying that he agreed with Jones and added that there was a lot of buzz surrounding the club. This sometimes put players in situations where they had to perform at their best or face the consequences. In the past, under the guidance of the esteemed boss Ferguson, such players had to either sink or swim.

During that period, it was challenging, and I believe that the athletes did not put in as much effort as they were capable of.

While he was in charge at Old Trafford, Mourinho managed to secure two important titles: the Carabao Cup and the Europa League. Moreover, he managed to lead his team to a second-place finish during the 2017-18 season.

Young was a part of Mourinho's team when the latter was in charge from 2016 to 2018.

For 10 years, Young was a part of the team at Old Trafford. Nowadays, the 38-year-old can be found playing football for Everton.

At present, Mourinho is not employed as he previously led Tottenham and Roma in his managerial career.

The beginning of the 2017-18 season was rough, resulting in Mourinho's dismissal following a 3-1 defeat against Liverpool, one of their biggest rivals.

Young became a member of Manchester United in 2011 after transferring from Aston Villa. During the last year Ferguson worked with the club, he and Young were able to secure the Premier League title.

When he was on Monday Night Football, he shared that the dressing room was filled with tears when Ferguson announced his retirement.

Mourinho was fired from his coaching position at United during the 2018-2019 season due to a challenging start to the season, following his team's second-place finish during the previous season.

After his dismissal from Roma in January, he is currently unemployed, though he previously coached Tottenham as well.
