Andy Murray got back at Tomas Martin Etcheverry by defeating him in the second round of the Miami Open.

Etcheverry had succeeded against the British tennis player in the initial phase of the Australian Open previously this year. However, in this recent match, Murray triumphed with a score of 7-6 (7-0) 6-3.

The game restarted when it was tied at 3-3 after a pause due to rainy conditions that occurred on Friday.

Murray triumphed in the first set tie-break and then sealed the win with a single break in the second set.

In the second set, the 36-year-old skillfully executed a backhand cross-court lob, causing Etcheverry to lose a point in the sixth game. The move was impressive and pleasing to watch.

Murray managed to dodge a break point in the following match and then dominated by scoring three aces to be 5-2 ahead.

Murray was in the lead of the set and was facing a challenging moment, being behind with a score of 0-40. However, he managed to bring the score to a tie by hitting a backhand shot that barely touched the line.

After two hours and sixteen minutes of play, he emerged as the victor once Etcheverry, who is ranked 30th in the world, hit a forehand shot that went out of bounds, thus ending the match.

In total, Murray aced 10 times, produced 28 winning shots as opposed to his rival's 17, and successfully defended all seven break points.

In the upcoming last 32 round, he has been paired with Tomas Machac from the Czech Republic, currently ranked 60th in the men's rankings.

Murray has won the tournament twice before, but it's believed that this will be the last time he competes in Miami as he's scheduled to retire later this year.

Miami has been like my place for practicing tennis. I have spent a lot of time working hard and preparing myself here, and I adore the city. Moreover, this is the final time I am playing here, so it's great to have one more chance.

Jack Draper, a British player, lost his match against Nicolas Jarry after a very long and arduous three hours and thirty-three minutes. As a result, he was eliminated from the tournament.

During the match, Draper had two opportunities to win the game while serving at 5-4 in the final set, but unfortunately, he was unable to convert them. As a result, Jarry from Chile emerged as the winner with a score of 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 7-6 (7-2).

Due to the rain, only eight matches were played on Friday. Moreover, the beginning of Saturday's play was postponed by three hours owing to the weather conditions.
